Find out what your menu should be this monsoon


 
According to scriptures, a human body is made of 5 elements namely air, water, fire, earth and sky. Any imbalance in these elements can harm us. Hence, our ancestors have set certain rules to ensure that this balance is maintained.
These rules help us organise our lifestyle and lead a healthy life. These rules include our diet. They have specified the kind of food that we should have.
Our diet should change with the season. Even doctors advice us to include as much seasonal fruits and vegetables as possible in our diet.  
Diet during monsoon:
Scriptures advice us to have easily digestible food during monsoon season.
- Eat fenugreek leaves (methi), horseradish (sahijan), parwal, bottle gourd (loki), saragwa, bathua, spinach (palak) and suran.     

- Include sevfal, moong dal, warm milk, garlic, ginger, sounth, ajvain, sath rice, old grains, wheat, rice, barley, sour items, porridge, honey, onions, ghee made of cows milk, til and mustard oil, pomogrenade and grapes in your diet.
- Avoid eating fried and oily food.            
- Avoid urad dal, arhar dal, grams, maida, ice cream, sweets, banana and sprouts
- Consume boiled water
